What I’ve Learned in the Last 7 Days

The first week has been quite an eye-opening experience. I just never really gave much thought to this parenting thing. I guess it really is harder than I thought and it’s only been a week! But the good news is that we are learning things very quickly and we are coming up with a routine…something that you really have to have with a newborn.

Here are some of the things that I’ve learned in the last 7 days:

  1. You cannot spoil a newborn
  2. You should do whatever you can to comfort them
  3. If they are crying, they probably need one of the following: diaper change, food, or just be comforted.
  4. Sometimes, they cry for no reason at all.
  5. Newborns pee and poop a lot. We are changing 10-12 diapers a day
  6. When changing diapers, always have the new one ready to go
  7. Breastfeeding is a full time job and can be very frustrating
  8. I feel for those with colicky babies
