Tey is back to work this week and, for the past few days, we have been dropping off Lucas with my mom. With help from Lola and the new nanny/housekeeper, Mom will be keeping an eye on Lucas for us while we are at work. It has not been too hard on Tey; Shes been a strong mom. Ive heard of stories about new moms breaking down when leaving their newborn with baby sitters or day care services. The fact that we are leaving him with a relative and not a stranger makes it a whole lot easier for us. I know many people do not have that luxury so we are very thankful for that.
So far the new routine has been pretty tiring. Im sure we will get adjusted sooner or later, but for now, Im just beat. I get up around 5:30am to walk Koda since I dont have any other time to walk him. I have to get back home by 6:15am so I can watch Lucas while Tey gets ready for work. She leaves for the office at 6:40am to get there by 7am. Between 6:40am and 7:40am, I am alone with the little boy before I take him to Moms house in Tustin on my way to work. The drive is a little out of the way for me, but its easier for me to do the drop-off than it is for Tey. I get to Moms around 8am, drop him off and Im off to work. Tey picks him up around 4:30pm and we do it all over again the next day.
Weve been doing it for three days now and Im just drained. The new routine just forces me to change a few things, but the biggest change is the 5:30am alarm. I used to walk Koda around 7:00am and that would give me more than enough time to get ready for work. Now, there are definitely no more late night computer sessions. Or if I do, I will be a zombie the next day. Yesterday, I was so tired, I came home ate dinner and went to sleep at 8:30pm. Hopefully, soon, my body will adjust and things will get easier.
