Big Turkey

I was looking forward to a really nice Thanksgiving weekend. Lucas’s first Thanksgiving holiday, a nice dinner at my Mom’s house, ice skating on Friday and birthday bowling night out on Saturday. But of course, things didn’t go quite as planned. On Wednesday night, while rollerblading with Koda, my weekend plans changed a little bit. I scraped out my knees and my hands and now I feel disabled. Everything hurts and it pretty much ruined my weekend and everyone else’s around me. Road rash sucks. I feel like a useless lump limping around the house only using a few of my fingers that don’t hurt. It’s taking me a while to type this entry…sheesh.

I use to take Koda out for runs everyday, but since we moved, I’ve been so lazy. I’ve taken out the old inline skates and let the big dog run with me. Usually he will run on my right side and we will go pretty fast, especially when going down this hill outside our house. While going down the hill, Koda is running on my right on the grass and I’m doing my gay downhill skier tuck. Of course, after a month of not even thinking about running in front of me, Koda inexplicably crosses in front of me and I tripped forward going about 25 miles per hour. I do a belly flop on the concrete side walk and skidded on my chest for about 4-5 feet. First thing I looked at was my chest and everthing seemed to be fine. Thank god it was cold out and I wore a thick fleece pullover. Then I looked at my right hand and saw a bloody hole in my palm. Just great. I ended with scrapes on my right palm, right four fingers, the back of my left hand, my left elbow and both knees. Everything hurts and will probably take a week or two to heal. Good thing nothing looks infected.

dumb

So while I should be taking care of Lucas while Tey is at work, he is at mom’s house because his big turkey of a dad is sitting at home staring at all his wounds. I feel like such a dumb ass. Happy Thanksgiving.
