Half Year Baby

I’ve always heard that the six month mark is a major milestone. Your baby is far from being a newborn and he is getting to be pretty solid. For me, it’s definitely been more fun. Lucas is now so alive and able to do so much more. Some of the new things that Lucas is able to do are sitting up, crawling faster, eating solids, pooping stinkier and screaming louder. All in a day’s adventure for our little boy

Mug ShotAfter months of being able to wiggle around on his stomach, Lucas is now learning to sit up by himself. It’s such a treat to see him do this. He’s been stuck looking at the world from way down there on the floor, that it must be an exciting change for him. He has also started to stand while holding onto something. It’s pretty amazing to see him upright. It’s such a weird picture since we are so used to him always in a horizontal position. He’s now able to grab onto the rail on his crib and stick his head up. When he started to do this, we could not help but laugh out loud.

Lucas was always such a loud baby. Crying loudly and making all sorts of grunting noises, we were already used to him. Now he is starting to make talking type noises along with his high-pitched screeching. It was pretty funny the other day when I heard him sigh out loud for the first time. He was chewing on his lotion bottle and I heard a “Hhhmph.” I just started laughing at him and he would sigh over and over.

He now has two little buck teeth on the bottom of his mouth. Watch out for his sucking. His little shark teeth will leave a mark. Still, he is drooling like a leaky faucet. Anything that he sticks in his mouth just leads to piles and piles of drool. Vegetable mush is now part of the daily menu. More realistic food means more realistic poop. Trust me, it’s getting gross.

People often confuse Lucas with a baby girl. The reasons that we hear are his hair and his eyelashes. His hair is pretty long now and are almost getting into his eyes. I still don’t want to cut it until he turns a year old and then maybe we could trim it. But, at least, for now he will be a long haired rocker.

One of his favorite things to do at home is play with Koda. It’s pretty cool that Lucas gets a long with his big puppy. Everytime Koda gets near him, Lucas will extend his arms out as if to hug him and then lets out a big waling screech. He gets so excited over Koda that he will just stare at him and laugh whenever the big dog is around. I’m glad that Koda will have a playmate when Lucas is old enough.
