Nine Months with a Hairy Boy

videoLittle baby boy is now 9 months old and his hair is getting longer by the second. He’s able to do so much now and is developing his own crazy personality. For some reason he is just a screamer…he must get that from his momma since Daddy don’t scream like that. When he plays with his toys he lets out these little screams as he bangs on everything. It’s quite interesting to see him develop these little habits.

He’s been finally switched over to baby formula for the last month or so and that has been a relief. It was good while it lasted, but carrying around chilled breast milk and finding a way to heat it up was definitely a pain. Now, it’s just mix the powder with the water and shake, shake, shake. Only negative is that formula is freaking expensive. Thank goodness babies only really need formula until one year old. I’m counting down the months.

Lucas has also been going to Gymboree Play & Music once a week for a playtime/developmental class. He is currently in Level 2 (6-10 months) class and usually goes with his Gramma on Fridays or with us on Saturdays. It’s fun to see him interact with the other babies in the class. He definitely has the longest hair of them all and I’ve heard a bunch of “She’s so cute” references. The only negative so far is, of course, that with contact with other kids, viruses are sure to follow. A little baby girl gave Lukie the cold.

He had it bad for about 3 weeks and we were stuck in a booger/phlegm nightmare. It was bad enough that he still drools like a maniac but now he had slimy snot dripping down his nose or dried boogers clogging his breathing. If I never have to use the snot sucking bulb ever again, it would make my life complete. During this three week span, because he was so clogged all the time, Lucas had trouble drinking his milk and it was pretty frustrating trying to feed him. Everytime he drinks, you could just hear the congestion with every slurp.

He just visited the pediatrician for his 9 month wellness exam. Overall, he is a really healthy baby boy, just a little light for his age. 17.5 lbs at 9 months is pretty skinny but he is not bony or gaunt looking. He’s got the double chin and some plumpness in the legs, but I’d be much happier if he was around 20 lbs. But of course, every baby is different and he is doing fine. He just needs to drink more milk.

At 9 months, Lucas is crawling like crazy and is standing up a lot. He is also able to walk a few steps while holding onto something like the edge of the sofa. He seems really strong in everything he does and I think he will start walking at around 11 months. We are already talking about his one year birthday bash and I hope that he will be walking around by then.

Here is a short video that I put together last night. It’s a compilation of some moments from the last few months. The intro and ending are default themes from iMovie which are super cool and easy to use. Quicktime, 8.44 MB.
