Grace and Richard : Malibu & Santa Monica Engagement Session

It was such a pleasure to meet up with Grace and Richard for their engagement session in Malibu and Santa Monica. Such a cute couple and they looked so great!! It was a lot of fun finding such cool scenes to shoot in and we also found our way out to the beach which is always a treat. The weather was amazing, as usual! Their wedding is coming up in December and I can’t wait! It’s going to be so much fun. Here are a few of my favs. Happy September!

Julie and Felix : Huntington Beach Hyatt Wedding

I’m so happy for Julie and Felix. They are just an awesome duo with a great zest for life and we were so honored to document their big day. They had a traditional Vietnamese wedding tea ceremony at both of their families’ homes and then we were off to the Huntington Beach Hyatt for their American ceremony and reception. It was such a great day filled with love and emotion. I actually made my longest slideshow ever. I just couldn’t make any cuts…so many great moments! Thanks to our awesome team of vendors…some of my favorite peeps in the industry! It’s always so great to work with a team where we all make each other’s jobs easier. I would recommend any of the vendors below in a heartbeat. Congrats Julie and Felix! Here are some favorites from this great wedding.

Erin and Ryan : Orange County Engagement Session

Erin and Ryan are two of the sweetest people ever and it was so much fun shooting with them. We found some really great spots around Irvine and we got a great mix of scenes. I think I’ll keep these locations a secret from Jan ;) Their wedding is coming up so fast at the end of the month and I can’t wait to shoot it! Thanks Erin and Ryan!

Gina and Albert : Orange County Engagement Session

Gina and Albert have an awesome sense of style! They came dressed to impress for their engagement session and we had a blast shooting. It was great to get a mixture of backgrounds from a more urban look to some outdoorsy fun. I really can’t wait for their wedding coming up real soon in October. Sarah and Russell : Meadowood Napa Valley Wedding

It was such a treat to travel up to Napa Valley for Sarah and Russell’s wedding. It’s such a beautiful part of the country and The Meadowood Resort was a perfect backdrop for their wedding. A gorgeous, gorgeous property! Sarah and Russell’s wedding had a croquet reception and it was too much fun to watch. Everyone was dressed in their croquet whites and it was such a cool scene. They served an wonderful brunch with a deeee-licious eggs benedict. So good! Congrats to Sarah and Russell and thank you for letting us document your truly unique and wonderful wedding! Mika and Jimmy : Hotel Del Coronado Wedding

Mika and Jimmy came in from The Netherlands to share their special day with their friends and family. They are two of the nicest people ever! And it was such a pleasure to document their wedding for them. Tey and I had so much fun getting around Hotel Del Coronado down in San Diego. Such a beautiful property and portraits were so much fun as founds some really great spots! Thanks to our great and talented friend Lisa Tewasart for coordinating the event. It was just a great day! Kristine and Morgan : Claremont Engagement Session

Thanks to Kristine and Morgan for introducing us to Downtown Claremont! I never knew Claremont was so cool, but it’s a pretty awesome area. There are some really interesting places and we had some great skies during our session. It was an awesome time and I cannot wait to do it all over again with them during their wedding in Hawaii next month! That will be one to remember!

Noelle and Fred’s wedding was a magnificent event at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena. From gorgeous details to the many emotional moments. I couldn’t help but get caught up in the whole thing. Noelle and Fred both looked so great and the whole day was just perfect. We had an amazing team of vendors that made the whole day a breeze. Thanks to Carolyn Chen of The Special Day and her team of coordinators. They always deliver! The Mille Fiore created such amazing visuals with their florals. Just awesome to photograph! Patty and Jason : Newport Beach Wedding

The skies were blue and the sun was out! It was an amazing SoCal day for Patty and Jason’s wedding at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort down in Newport Beach. Their story is so sweet as they’ve known each other for so long and they totally remind us of ourselves when we got married. Patty and Jason were high school sweet hearts it was so awesome to see them tie the knot. We also loved seeing Julie & Danny and Kim & Justin!! Stephanie and Thomas : Glendora Country Club Wedding

It’s pretty awesome when we get to photograph multiple weddings within the same family. It’s just an amazing honor for us. Sanaz and Ali : Laguna Beach Engagement Session

Jane and Elvin wanted to do a little something different for their pre-wedding session. We met up in Palos Verdes and they got all dressed up to take some pictures! It was very cool to see Jane in a wedding gown and we were able to get some pretty cool shots. It’s pretty fun to get these Bride and Groom type portraits without the worries of a wedding day. It would be very cool to do this type of shoot more often. Their wedding is coming up later this year and let’s see if we can beat these! Here are a few highlights from our session:

Megan and Ray : San Francisco Engagement Session

I was pretty excited when I started chatting with Megan and Ray about what they wanted to do for their engagement session. One of their first suggestions was having me photograph them eating at their favorite Pho restaurant. I was thinking “Heck Yeah!” I really love it when portrait sessions have that personal touch. Our session became a little mini-tour of San Francisco starting at their home and going to a few spots that were special to them. Being able to document Megan and Ray going to their favorite places gave me a little more insight on the personalities of this amazing couple. They recently returned from a 14 month adventure around the world and it ended with a bang! You have to check out this amazing video that Ray produced: HERE. I can’t wait for their wedding in Lake Tahoe later this summer! Here are a few from our session:

Polly and Carl : Santa Monica Fairmont Miramar Wedding

We just love being around Polly and Carl. They are so full of life and their great and easy going personalities made their big day so enjoyable for everyone. They had a super cool, small wedding at the Fairmont Miramar and we enjoyed some amazing weather in Santa Monica. We also had the pleasure of working with a great crew of vendors. The crew at The Fairmont were so great…the food was soooooo good! Slomique and Alice of Carpe Diem were on point and such a blast to work with. It’s always awesome to be around great wedding pros. Sarah and Russell : San Francisco Engagement Session

Just to clarify, we are NOT based in San Francisco. Hahaha! But we do love coming up here to shoot! I think my favorite thing about SF is the diversity in both scenery and culture all within such a small area. I met up with Sarah and Russell to get some shots around town and it was great to see them all dress up and having fun. We found so many cool spots starting at the Embarcadero and we got all the way to Union Street shopping area. I’m beyond excited for their wedding coming up in Napa Valley this summer. Quynh and Adam : San Francisco Wedding

We feel very fortunate to be able to do a little bit of traveling for some of our weddings. And it is always a treat for us to go up north to our new adopted city of San Francisco. We’ve learned so much about the city over the last few years and we really love going up there. We joined up with Adam and Quynh and the Hotel Frank in Union Square and went over to the Piedmont Community Church for their ceremony. They had a great set up at the church and they also did a Chinese tea ceremony that got me choked up for a few minutes. It was very touching. We loved our stay in SF and want to congratulate Quynh and Adam on a beautiful event! Here are some highlights:

Family Friday #51

Last weekend, we were in San Francisco for a few shoots and we decided to bring the boys up for a few extra days. They love coming up to visit their Aunt Chloe and Uncle Rob, so they had fun causing havoc in their flat. We all checked out the Maker Faire in San Mateo, which was pretty cool. Lots of crazy stuff going on there. And in the city, we checked out a few farmer’s markets and finally ate at PPQ Dungeness Island restaurant….which is so great!

We decided to drive since just the thought of bringing all our gear AND the kid’s stuff on the airplane was already stressing us out. It was a long, long drive, but thank god for movies on the go! On the way home, we stopped somewhere off the 5 freeway to stretch our legs a bit and took a few pictures. We found a cool spot and got the boys to model for us…not an easy task! This shot took forever to get because they kept on running around like wild animals!! With Tey holding the flashes and me trying to take the pictures, it was crazy hard to get their attention. But we ended up with some keepers.

Noelle and Fred : Walnut High & Laguna Beach Engagement Session

Noelle and Fred met back in high school and they wanted to commemorate that on their engagement session. Shooting at Walnut High is definitely another example of how campus locations are so great for photo shoots. Such a great variety of scenery and we had a blast walking around the school. Part of the fun was getting these strange looks from random students and teachers/parents. Too much fun! We ended off the session with a trek to the beach and Noelle and Fred got a little wet! Another fun part to a great session. Here are some highlights:

Annie and David : Malibu Engagement Session

Malibu is quite a beautiful place. We don’t get up there too often, but when we do, we are just in awe of the scenery.
