We Got a Facebook Fan Page!

We’re a bit late to the game, but it’s definitely better late than never. We finally got a Facebook Fan Page! If you are on Facebook, check it out. All the blog posts are on there, but in addition to those, we will be also posting a lot of little cool things. Here are some of the that we will be posting ONLY on the Fan Page:

  1. Favorites – We will be giving some insight on some of our favorite photos. Why we like them, some settings (where applicable) and what was going on in the scene at the time. Hopefully this will help both photographers and clients get some ideas of what goes on in a photo.
  2. Photo Tips – I’ll be putting tips that I’ve kind of accumulated thoughout the years. Not just pro tips, but general tips for all photographers whether you are using an SLR, point and shoot or your cellphone. Everybody takes photos, so I’ll try and help make the world a prettier place w/ less ugly pics out there :)
  3. Wedding Tips – We will be giving some wedding tips for all with upcoming nuptials. Not only photo specific tips, but tips that we believe will lead to a better wedding experience for all! We’ve seen a thing or two over the last few years, so we definitely want to share the info.
  4. Giveaways/Contests – We will be doing the occasional contest or giveaway for Facebook Fans. From gadgets, gift cards, portrait sessions, etc. It should be fun! Since our business anniversary is coming up, we have some cool things lined up. We’ll have general giveaways that apply to anyone (blog and twitter followers), but some will be Fan page specific only.

So check us out and be a fan! Jan Garcia Photography Fan Page

Sara and Alex : Malibu/Santa Monica Wedding Photography

This was one of those days where you really have to look around and be so thankful to live where we live. The skies were breathtakingly blue and the breeze was so refreshingly cool. A beautiful, beautiful day to witness Sara and Alex’s wedding! They had their ceremony at a private estate in Malibu and the view was amazing! Afterwards, they had their reception at the World Cafe in Santa Monica, which provided a really great and intimate setting for the evening. The whole event had such a cool and personal feel to it. We loved it! Sara looked gorgeous and Alex was holding his own :) Together, it was pretty hard to take anything but a great photo of them. Thanks to Carolyn Chen and her crew at The Special Day. Things could’ve easily been crazy if it wasn’t for them. It’s always so awesome to have everything flow the way they were supposed to. The beautiful florals were from Mille Fiori Floral Design….another amazing job. Here are some highlights:

Carina and Marcus : Rancho Santa Margarita Wedding Photography

We had the pleasure of photographing Carina and Marcus’ wedding at the Rancho Santa Margarita Community Center, which is a great little property. It was a super cool and casual affair where all the guys were wearing Hawaiian shirts. They had the best BBQ catered by Woodranch BBQ! Wow, it was so yummy. They had such great little details from the table cards to the florals and candy that were all prepared by friends and family. We also got to see previous clients….love seeing them again :) Here are some highlights from this great day:

Tiffany and Ben : Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Session

Keep in mind that we did this session before I watched 500 Days of Summer. Tiffany and Ben gave me the coolest tour of Downtown L.A., and while we were walking around, the movie kept on coming up. I kinda knew that it was an “L.A. love story”, but when I finally saw the movie, it was so cool! We hit some major 500 DOS spots, from the Bradbury Building to Angels Knoll Park on Bunker Hill and it made me appreciate downtown so more and more. But Tiffany and Ben was just a blast to be around and we got some really fun stuff around town. Check out some highlights:

Julie and Steve : Crystal Cove Engagement Session

I met up with Julie and Steve on a perfect, perfect day out in Crystal Cove. We experience a few firsts during this shoot. It’s the first time I shot someone in a helicopter spin! Hahah…Steve spun Julie so fast, it was so funny! And then while we were walking towards a spot on the beach that I wanted to shoot at, we ran into a couple doing “the deed” under some blankets! They were still quite a distance away, but I saw what they were doing ;) Wow, that was definitely a first! But thanks goodness we were not traumatized enough to stop. We kept on going and got some pretty great stuff as the sun set. They are getting married next week!!
